This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies Protestant Project Fund uses, and how you can control them. By continuing to use our platform, you consent to our use of cookies as described in this policy. For broader information about how we handle your personal data, please see our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognize your device on subsequent visits, remember your preferences, and maintain session state. Cookies are widely used to make websites work correctly and efficiently.
There are different types of cookies:
- Session cookies exist only for the duration of your browser session and are deleted when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.
- First-party cookies are set by the website you are visiting.
- Third-party cookies are set by a domain other than the one you are visiting.
2. Cookies We Use
We aim to use as few cookies as possible. The cookies we set fall into the following categories:
2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the Platform to function. Without them, services you have requested — such as staying logged in — cannot be provided. These cookies do not require your consent because they are technically necessary.
2.2 Preference Cookies
These cookies remember choices you make on the Platform to provide a more personalized experience. Currently we do not set any preference cookies beyond those listed above. If we add preference cookies in the future, this policy will be updated.
2.3 Analytics Cookies
Protestant Project Fund does not currently use third-party analytics cookies (such as Google Analytics). We collect limited, first-party usage data server-side (such as share event counts and donation totals per project) for platform analytics. This data is aggregated and does not require client-side cookies.
If we introduce analytics cookies in the future, we will update this policy and, where required by law, seek your consent before setting them.
2.4 Marketing and Advertising Cookies
We do not use marketing or advertising cookies. We do not display third-party advertisements on the Platform and do not share data with advertising networks for tracking purposes.
3. Third-Party Cookies
Some functionality on the Platform is provided by third parties. These providers may set their own cookies on your device:
We do not have control over the cookies set by third-party services. Please review their respective cookie policies for more information.
4. Managing Cookies
You have several options for managing or deleting cookies:
4.1 Browser Settings
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically:
- View cookies currently stored on your device.
- Delete all cookies or cookies from specific websites.
- Block cookies from specific websites.
- Block third-party cookies.
- Set the browser to notify you when a cookie is being placed.
Here are links to cookie management instructions for common browsers:
4.2 Impact of Disabling Cookies
Please be aware that disabling or deleting our strictly necessary cookies will affect your ability to use the Platform:
- Disabling the
cpf_tokencookie will prevent you from staying logged in. You will need to re-authenticate on every page load. - Disabling the
cpf_csrfcookie may prevent you from completing donations or making account changes.
Since we do not use analytics or advertising cookies, declining non-essential cookies will not meaningfully affect your browsing experience on our Platform.
4.3 Opt-Out of Third-Party Cookies
You can opt out of Stripe's fraud-prevention cookies only insofar as your browser settings allow blocking cookies from stripe.com. However, this may prevent the donation flow from functioning correctly. We recommend keeping Stripe cookies enabled for a seamless donation experience.
5. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting that signals to websites that you do not wish to be tracked. Because we do not engage in cross-site tracking or behavioral advertising, we do not alter our practices based on DNT signals. Our use of cookies is limited to the strictly necessary session cookies described in this policy.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our use of cookies or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where required, notify you through the Platform or by email. Your continued use of the Platform after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
